The controversial subject matter is sure to raise a few eyebrows. And judging from the first released stills of the upcoming movie, Two Mothers does not beat about the bush in its tale of two women's passionate affairs with each other's teenage sons.
According to the Daily Mail report, in newly released photos, Naomi Watts is seen in a passionate clinch in bed with 21-year-old Australian actor James Frecheville.
Naomi, who is real life is mother to Sasha, five, and four-year-old Sammy, also plays mum to the 20-something year old Xavier Samuel in the upcoming film.
'This is going to change things,' admitted Watts, who says she is perfectly fine with the fact that she is no longer a Hollywood ingenue. 'A career has to be reinvented all the time.'
Other shots also show a nude Robin Wright, 46, tenderly stroking Samuel's hair as he gazes lovingly at her.
But the 44-year-old Watts says she will not resort to plastic surgery: 'There are days I feel I'm 100 years old and I'm an inch away from doing something,' she admitted.
It was Two Mothers director Anne Fontaine who urged Watts to stay natural, the British born actress told USA Today.
'She was like, 'Don't ever, ever get anything done.' You can't re-light a strange face,' said Watts. 'So that's my thought for the day.'
It was announced this weekend that the film will premiere at the prestigious 2013 Sundance Film Festival which runs from January 17-27 in Park City, Utah.
Directed by Anne Fontaine, written by Christopher Hampton the story charts the unconventional and passionate affairs of two lifelong friends who fall in love with each other's sons.
Actresses Naomi Watts and Robin Wright, 46, star alongside Twilight actor Xavier Samuel and James Frecheville.
The film is based on a short story by British writer Doris Lessing called the Grandmothers.
It tells the story of two grandmothers, Roz and Lil, best friends since girlhood who were lovers to each other's teenage sons, until their early 30s.
The women's resolve to end the affairs and see their sons married off but the boys resist.
