India has anti-satellite tech, but will not use: Saraswat Bangalore: India has the capability to develop and launch Anti-Satellite systems, but as a policy will not use, Dr V K Saraswat, Scientific Advisor to the Defence Minister, said today.

Addressing a press conference at the Aero India 2011 here, Dr Saraswat said ''we do not believe in space wars, though we have all technologies required to launch anti-satellite systems to defend our satellites.''

Replying to a question on building satellites for defence use, he said the DRDO was only developing specific pay loads required for the defence services and was handing over to ISRO for integrating them into their satellite platforms.

Dr Saraswat said apart from the ever present cross border threats, India today faced a major security threat in the form of cyber space.

''Cyber threat is at a fairly evolving stage and there is need to counter such threats. The cyber security threats are evolving much more vigorously and to counter such threats we have to build robust and trusted platforms,'' he added.
