Women as brides from Bihar will be got for Haryana men, says BJP leader Dhankar New Delhi: A major controversy erupted over a Haryana BJP leader issuing a controversial remark, saying  that the party will get women from Bihar to ensure all men in Haryana get married.

BJP's National Kisan Morcha president OP Dhankar reportedly made the comment at a speech on Friday while addressing the Kisan Mahasammelan at Narwana.

Sushil Modi mera yaar hai, rishtey karwaenge to dhang se karwaenge, yaha waha se lena-dena churva denge (Sushil Modi is a good friend of mine, we will ensure a compatitble match and do away with bringing brides from anywhere), ANI quoted him saying on Friday.

Main jab chunav kshetra main ghoom raha tha to har gao mai bata rahe the Bihar se la rahe hain (While touring my constituency during elections, we went to each house in the villages and said that brides will be brought from Bihar," he added.

The comment sparked furore with people from Purvanchal demanding an apology.

"This is an insult to not only Bihar but women, OP Dhankar should be arrested for his statement. BJP should look into this," JD(U) leader Ali Anwar said.

OP Dhankar had contested the Lok Sabha polls from Rohtak, wherein he lost to Deepender Singh Hooda, incumbent MP and son of Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
