Navy choppers rescue firemen from burning Mumbai high-rise; one killed Mumbai: Navy choppers were called in on Friday to rescue fire-fighters trapped in a Mumbai high-rise, which caught fire early this morning.

At least two choppers were pressed into service to rescue over a dozen firemen trapped on the rooftop of the building after a fire put out earlier restarted.

At least one fireman lost his life in the incident.

Nearly 30 firefighters had been fighting the blaze on the top two floors of the 22-storey Lotus Business Park building in Andheri. The fire had started at around 11 am.

Officials said the two top floors of the commercial building have been gutted in the fire.

The fire started on the 21st floor that later spread to the 22nd floor of the building in suburban Andheri West, officials of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Disaster Control said.

The fire - the cause of which is not clear yet - broke out when a majority of the office complexes in the building had not yet opened for the day's work.

Over two dozen fire-tenders battled the flames and a few people on the lower floors were evacuated.

The building houses offices of several prominent corporates and film companies besides offices of film stars like Hritik Roshan and Ajay Devgn.
