Flood affected Odisha villagers seek relief Keonjhar: Though the Baitarani River is flowing below its danger mark and water has started receding in many rivers, hundreds of villages in Keonjhar district are still marooned and cut off from the main stream.

Flood water has affected three blocks of Keonjhar including Andapur, Ghasipura and Hatadihi.

Till today hundreds of villages in three blocks are cut off and thousands of people are still surrounded by flood water.

Pala Munda, a flood affected villager said, "We 100 people faced the most difficult situation. Everything has swept away. Our clothes, our cooking utensil everything washed away. We had to take shelter here and are depending on the administration for food."

River Baitarani at Anandapur in Keonjhar district of Odisha was flowing at a level of 41.04 metres. This is 2.68 meters above its danger level of 38.36 meters and 0.31 meters below its previous level of 41.35 meters recorded on September 23, 2011.

Thousands of people who were marooned and those who have taken shelter in the temporary shed are complaining of not having relief that is making their lives miserable.

Narahari Ojha, another affected villager said, "A week back there was a flood but the water did not enter the houses but after two days the flood water gradually entered inside the village and submerged the area. Our people are marooned and crying for relief but nobody is coming to us. What is the administration doing? During the time of vote all the political leaders come and asked for vote but after that nobody is showing their face during this crisis."
