MP Governor's son, accused in MPPEB scam, dies in Lucknow Bhopal: Shailesh Yadav, the son of Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav, was on Wednesday found dead at the Governor's official residence in Lucknow.

Notably, Shailesh's name had figured in the multi-crore Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) or Vyapam scam.

Meanwhile, Ram Naresh Yadav, who himself has been named as an accused in the scam, has been admitted to the Critical Care Unit of a hospital in Bhopal following respiratory problems.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has expressed his condolences over the passing of Shailesh Yadav,

"This is a very sad news. It is very painful. We all express our condolence and pray for his soul's peace. We also hope that the Governor and his family are able to bear the loss," said Chouhan.

Congress leader Pramod Tiwari also termed Shailesh's death as unfortunate, saying it appeared that he died of brain haemorrhage.

"It is very unfortunate. As of what is known, Shailesh Yadav was a diabetes patient, he died of brain haemorrhage," said Tiwari.

"He was under stress after his name figured in the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board or Vyapam scam. This might be the reason behind his death as far as we think," said a family friend and Congress leader Satyadeo Tripathi, who visited Yadav's residence here.

Police said the exact cause of the death could not be ascertained immediately, but reports said Shailesh died after suffering a brain haemorrhage. His last rites will be performed in Lucknow.

"We have got information that Shailesh Yadav, aged about 50, died at the official residence of MP Governor Ram Naresh Yadav at Mall Avenue locality here", Gautampalli Police Station in-charge, Vidrendra Bahadur Singh, told a news agency.

Shailesh's name had cropped up in the multi-crore Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board for allegedly fixing the recruitment of 10 candidates as Grade III teachers.

Ram Naresh Yadav, the former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, was appointed Madhya Pradesh Governor by Congress in 2011.

Accusing the Governor of failing to uphold the sanctity of his post, the opposition Congress, however, demanded his resignation over the MPPEB scam.

Last month, a Special Task Force registered an FIR against Governor Ram Naresh Yadav and 100 others in the scam. Ram Naresh Yadav has challenged in the High Court the inclusion of his name as an accused and has sought immunity.

Earlier, an accused in the scam had alleged that Shailesh took money to help candidates.

In his statement to the Special Task Force (STF) probing the scam, Veerpal Yadav had alleged that he handed over a list of 10 candidates and Rs 3 lakh to his friend Vijay Pal, who gave the money and names allegedly to the Governor's son Shailesh Yadav at Raj Bhawan.

The scam involves massive irregularities and corruption in the MP Vyavsayik Pareeksha Mandal.
