PM Modi tweets about earthquake, takes stock of situation

New Delhi: As 7.5-magnitude earthquake rattled major parts of northern India and neighbouring Nepal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday assured that the government is working to reach out to those affected in both the countries.

PM Modi, who took to Twitter immediately after tremors were felt, wrote, “We are in the process of finding more information and are working to reach out to those affected, both at home and in Nepal.”

Earthquake of magnitude 7.5 occurred today at 11.41 am between latitude 28.1 North and Longitude 84.6 East. The epicentre was located in Nepal, an IMD statement said.

The earthquake was reported minutes after PM Modi had boarded the Airport Express Metro at Dhaula Kuan station in south Delhi and got down at Dwarka Sector 21 station in south-west Delhi.
