Amit Shah meets Gajendra Singh's family, addresses a BJP rally in Jaipur Jaipur: BJP chief Amit Shah addressed a massive party workers rally Saturday afternoon in the state capital. BJP president Amit Shah on Saturday met the family of Gajendra Singh, the farmer who allegedly committed suicide at an Aam Aadmi Party rally in Delhi, at Nangal Jhamarwada village of Dausa district.

The BJP leader consoled the grieving family members of Singh, who killed himself on Wednesday.

After addressing a party workers meeting in the state capital, Shah went to Dausa, 57 kms from Jaipur, amid tight security arrangements.

The party president was accompanied by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, state health minister Rajendra Rathore and others.

Following an aggressive membership drive in the state, the BJP president was scheduled to address party workers to boost their morale and push them to work harder and increase the party’s outreach.

“We have already crossed the 75 lakh membership figure in this state and soon there will be a time that no other party will find a place here. Our party workers have toiled hard going to the smallest of towns and villages,” Shah told a massive gathering of party workers at Amroodon ka Bagh maidan in the state capital.

“When the Congress was in power, there were scams in everything, right from sand mining to coal, chopper deals to airports but in the past one year BJP has rooted out corruption in the government and not a single scam has been reported.”

“Our first priority was to bring back black money and a special investigation team was constituted for that.  When we took over crores of families did not have a single bank account but in 11 months through the Jan Dhan Yojana we have reached 14 crore household with new bank accounts. The BJP has brought down petrol and diesel rates too,” he added.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has toured several countries and even there he spoke in Hindi, giving due respect to our ‘rashtrabhasha’. This century belongs to India.”

Shah said that the government is committed to provide relief to farmers and lauded Modi’s decision to bring down norms from 50 percent crop damage to 33 percent to be eligible for compensation.

“Even CM Raje has taken several good steps to help farmers. Her Bhamashah scheme goes a long way to strengthen the position of women in society.”

Raje, while recounting the achievements of her government, announced that the rollback of power tariff on ‘krishi connections’ and assured that the increased bills will be adjusted according to the subsidised rates in the next billing cycle.

Hitting out at the previous Ashok Gehlot government, Raje said, “We had left the government in revenue surplus but when we took over from the previous Congress government, the state was in a debt of Rs. 2.10 lakh crore, with discoms alone being in Rs. 77,000 crore debts. People should ask Gehlot where all the money went and he should apologize for leaving the state in such a situation.”

Raje said that deceased farmer Gajendra Singh’s father had written to her seeking a CBI inquiry into his death. “His father has claimed that the suicide note is fake and it is not his handwriting and has sought a CBI inquiry.

Soon after the rally Shah and Raje headed to Nangal Jhamarwada village in Bandikui, 120 kms from the state capital, in a chopper to meet Gajendra’s family and offer condolences.
