Gunmen open fire on bus in Pakistan's Karachi, 47 feared killed, Modi condemns Karachi: At least 47 people have been feared killed and several others injured after a passenger bus carrying members of the Ismaili Shia community was attacked by gunmen on motorcycles in Pakistan's Karachi on Wednesday.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condemned the attack in Karachi."The attack in Karachi is deeply saddening and utterly condemnable. Our thoughts are with the families of the deceased.

We stand firmly with the people of Pakistan in this hour of grief. I wish all those injured a quick recovery", the Prime Minister Modi said.

According to eye-witnesses, eight motorcycle-borne gunmen opened fire at the bus which was carrying around 60 passengers near Safoora Chowk.

Militant group Pakistan Tehrik-e-Taliban has claimed responsibility of the attack.

At least 25 men and 16 women have been killed in the incident.

Television channels carried pictures of a pink bus covered in bullet holes and lines of waiting ambulances. Police said the passengers were from a religious minority.

The gunmen managed to escape after the incident

The area has been cordoned off and rescue teams, police and Rangers have arrived at the scene of the incident.
