Delhi came forward to New Delhi: Children surviving on streets never know when they were born and where they were born. This deprives them from their very basic right to identity. More then 5 lakh children in Delhi alone are living with the status of Street or working children.

Common people see them day in and day out but somehow are not able to connect with them. Childhood Enhancement through Training and Action (CHETNA) an NGO innovated new ways to connect that missing link. A campagin called "Gift your birthday" to street children was launched today in presence of 40 street children and 25 concerned citizens.

"A great initiative by CHETNA to help empower and appreciate the street and working children" said Namrata Pati, a team member of Mcgraw Hill financial company.

"I'm very privillaged to share my birthday with this child. This is the best birthday ever I could have in my life. Thank you CHETNA" said Dimple a corporate worker.

"I want to request everyone to please share your birthday with them. It's very inspiring and basically makes you happy. When these kids smile and cut the cake its the most beautiful thing in the world. So share your birthday India" said Latika who shared her work with 12 years old ragpicker girl.

During birthday people feel very happy and look for wishes and gifts. This initiative is actually requesting citizens to gift their birthday to street children and also take care of their year long education expenses, We are happy that even on day of launch 10 persons has come forward and gifted their birthday. The donation collected will be spent on 10 children who received birthday as gift, said Sanjay Gupta Director CHETNA.
