Indian Army denies reports of Pakistan shooting down its 'spy drone'

Jammu: Pakistan said on Wednesday an "Indian spy drone" was shot down by the army along the Line of Control in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. India denied the claim, saying no such drone crashed or was shot down.

The Pakistani army claimed that the drone was being used for aerial photography and was "brought down for violation of Pakistan's territorial integrity".

Pakistan's Dunya News quoted the Inter-Services Public Relations -- the military's media wing -- as saying that the drone was equipped with a camera and was taking photos. It was shot down in Bhimbher sector along the Line of Control.

A spokesperson of the Indian Army said: "Some reports of a drone crash in PoK are being referred to. No drone or UAV crash of the Indian Army has taken place."

Dunya News said Pakistan has decided to summon the Indian high commissioner after the incident to register its protest.

The reported shooting down of the drone took place nearly a week after the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif in Ufa, Russia, where the two leaders talked peace and anti-terrorism measures.
