Google puts a black ribbon, Twitter account renamed 'In memory of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam' New Delhi: Tech giant Google and micro blogging site Twitter has paid a beautiful tribute to the recently-deceased APJ Abdul Kalam. The former Indian President passed away earlier this week, and Google remembers him with a black ribbon on its homepage.

As seen in the above photo, there is a black ribbon placed just under the search bar. Hovering your mouse over the ribbon pops up a message, “In memory of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.” It is a fitting tribute to a man of Kalam’s stature.

Although former President APJ Abdul Kalam is no more, his Twitter account will continue to be active in a new form.

A team of his close associates has decided to run his official Twitter account, which has now been renamed as ‘In memory of Dr Kalam’.

“Dedicated 2 immortal memories of Dr Kalam. This account will now reflect his thoughts, his lessons & missions. Miss you sir! (sic),” Dr Kalam’s close aide Srijan Pal Singh tweeted.

Singh would now act as the administrator of his Twitter account and will keep sharing inspirational quotes from an innumerable number of speeches made by Dr Kalam and his books such as Wings of Fire, India 2020 and Ignited Minds.

Dr Kalam passed away on Monday night in Shillong at Bethany Hospital. He was there delivering a lecture at IIM-Shillong, when he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. Dr. Kalam was aged 83.
