Pakistan shelling at civilian areas forces border residents to migrate

Jammu: With ceasefire violation having become a regular feature wherein Pakistan forces not only targeting Indian security forces at the international border and the Line of Control (LoC) but also at civilian areas in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, with the latest such incident on Saturday night when mortar shells were fired at BSF posts, the civilians have started moving to safer locations.
Late on Saturday night the Pakistan Rangers fired two mortar shells at a BSF post on the international border in Jammu district, many a families in the border villages began migrating to safer places, said an official.
However, the Indian forces did not respond to Pakistan firing as only two mortar shells were fired, said a police official.
He said that many families living in villages close to the international border in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts began migrating to safer places from Saturday afternoon due to frequent targeting of civilian areas by Pakistan Rangers.
It may be mentioned here that during the month of August, nine civilians had lost their lives and nearly 30 others were injured in Pakistan shelling at civilian areas on the Line of Control and the international border in the state.
