BSE Sensex closes 565 points higher, NSE Nifty above 8,100 on global cues Mumbai: The S&P BSE Sensex closes 2.15%, or 564.60 points, higher at 26,785.55, while the CNX Nifty ends 2.12%, or 168.40 points, higher at 8,119.30. Top Sensex gainers are Tata Motors Ltd ( up 6.09%), Tata Steel Ltd (up 6.06%), ICICI Bank Ltd (up 4.86%), while Top Sensex losers are Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (3.43%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd (0.56%), Wipro Ltd (0.15%).

3:05pm: The S&P BSE Sensex surges 2.23%, or 584.81 points, to 26,805.76, while the CNX Nifty gains 2.18%, or 173.70 points, to 8,124.60.

Top Sensex gainers: Tata Motors Ltd ( up 5.89%), Tata Steel Ltd (up 5.68%), ICICI Bank Ltd (up 4.75%)

Top Sensex losers: Maruti Suzuki India Ltd ( down 3.77%)

2:25pm: The S&P BSE Sensex climbs 529.27 points, or 2.02%, to 26,750.22, while the Nifty is up 155.10 points, or 1.95%, to 8,106 after weak US jobs data prompted expectations the Federal Reserve might postpone an interest rate hike.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 1.8% to 21,854.50 and Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 gained 1.6% to 18,005.49. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 rose 2% to 5,150.50, while South Korea’s Kospi added 0.4% to 1,978.25. Taiwan, Singapore, Manila and Jakarta also rose.

Top Sensex gainers: Tata Motors (up 6.8%), Hindalco (up 4.7%) and HDFC (up 4.6%)

Top Sensex losers: Maruti Suzuki (down 3.2%), Dr. Reddy’s (down 1.2%) and Lupin (down 1%)

2:00pm: The rupee is trading at 65.27 per US dollar compared with its previous close of 65.51. The local currency hits an intra-day high of 65.21.

1:48pm: Force Motors Ltd surges 17.5% to Rs.2,888, Gokul Refoils and Solvent Ltd is up 20% to Rs.16.75 on the back of higher volumes. BSE has raised the circuit limit for the stock to 20% from 5% earlier.

1:32pm: Jubilant Industries Ltd climbs 8.7% to Rs.295.10, while Jyoti Structures Ltd is up 3.1% to Rs.13.70 on the back of higher volumes. BSE has raised the circuit limit for the stocks to 10% from 5% earlier.

1:10pm: Alok Industries Ltd jumps 3.4% to Rs.6.40 after the company said it got $50 million additional advance under export programme.

12:45pm: The equity markets are trading stable, with the S&P BSE Sensex up 392.05 points, or 1.5%, to 26,613. The Nifty is trading higher by 110.85 points, or 1.4%, to 8,061.75.

12:37pm: All the sectoral indoces are trading in the green. The BSE Capital Goods is up 2.7%, Bankex 2.1%, Power 1.75%, Auto 1.4%, Oil and Gas 1% and IT 0.5%.

12:20pm: Godrej Consumer Products Ltd climbs 8% to Rs.1,324.75. The company is set to launch new products in personal care and home care segments in the next two weeks which is expected to boost its urban sales in the coming quarters, Press Trust of India reported.

12:04pm: Educomp Solution Ltd advances 20% to Rs.13.66 after the company’s subsidiary Educomp Intelliprop Ventures Pte Ltd sold its entire stake in Wiz Learn Technology Pte Ltd to V-cube Global Services Pte Ltd.

11:53am: NIIT Ltd surges 9.2% after the company informed BSE that the share allotment committee of the board of directors has allotted 36,830 equity shares of Rs.2 each to the employees in accordance with the terms of ESOP 2005.

11:40am: IDFC Ltd is trading 6% higher after the infrastructure financing firm on Thursday began trading as a stand-alone entity as part of the demerger scheme.

11:27am: The S&P BSE Sensex is trading higher by 386.41 points, or 1.47%, at 26,607.36, while the Nifty is up 110.55 points, or 1.4%, to 8,061.45.

The BSE Capital Goods is the top sectoral gainer, up 2.5%, followed by BSE Bankex, up 2.3%.

11:20am: Housing Development Finance Corp. Ltd (HDFC) gains 4% on news that the mortgage lender has raised about Rs.10,000 crore through a mix of warrants and non-convertible debentures to qualified institutional investors.

11:14am: Power lenders rally on reports of distributors’ restructuring. Power Finance Corp gains 7%, Rural Electrification Corp is up 5.3%, Oriental Bank of Commerce 3.4%, Dena Bank 1.5%, while Andhra Bank rises 2.6%. Some media reports said that state governments may take over the entire debt of power distribution companies. India’s panel of ministers is meeting on Wednesday to consider the proposal, reports added citing sources.

Financial restructuring may lead to upgrade of loans to standard category, according to analysts. State government guarantee may also reduce the risk weightage of the loans, added analysts.

11:05am: Cummins India Ltd rises 2% to Rs.1,109.30 after the company announced that it has completed the acquisition of the balance 50% shares of Cummins Svam Sales and Service.

10:51am: Lanco Infratech Ltd advances 10% to Rs.5.97 after the company informed BSE that the board of directors on 30 September allotted 265.17 million equity shares of Rs.1 each at a price of Rs.6.30 by conversion of promoters contribution of Rs.167.06 crore into equity shares of the company.

10:40am: The S&P BSE Sensex extends gains to trade higher by 409.16 points, or 1.56%, to 26,630.11, while the Nifty is up 113.60 points, or 1.43%, to 8,064.50.

10:33am: Hindustan Construction Co. Ltd (HCC) surges 14% to Rs.22.10 after around 3.58 million equity shares of the company have changed hands in block deals. Further details of buyers and sellers are not available, Bloomberg reported.

10:26am: Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd rises 2.3% to Rs.311.75 after the company on 3 October said it has entered into a non-binding memorandum of understanding with L&T Shipbuilding Ltd for evaluating the operations of the port at Kattupalli, Tamil Nadu, with effect from October 2015 for a period of one month. Larsen and Toubro Ltd rises 2.1% to Rs.1,520.

10:20am: The S&P BSE Sensex is now up 382.98 points, or 1.46%, to 26,603.93, while the Nifty gains 102.50 points, or 1.29%, to 8,053.40.

10:11am: Claris Lifesciences Ltd climbs nearly 8% to Rs.236.90 after Reliance Mutual Fund bought 625,000 shares of the company at an average price of Rs.201 apiece, according to BSE data.

10:02am: NTPC Ltd adds 2.1% to Rs.126.35. The state-run company will consider selling electricity to Bangladesh from its upcoming 750MW plant at Kokrajhar in Assam once the neighbouring country finalizes plans to buy power from Palatana project in Tripura.

9:55am: Tata Steel Ltd gains 2.6% to Rs.217.70 after a news report said that it is set to commission the first phase of its Kalinganagar plant, where it has invested Rs.22,000 crore so far, in the next fiscal year.

9:49am: Biocon Ltd rises 1.5% to Rs.455 after a news report said that it has acquired business assets of Acacia Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd, which has a unit at Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City (JNPC) at Parawada.

9:42am: Maruti Suzuki India Ltd falls 1.7% to Rs.4,502.95 after Jefferies downgraded the stock to “underperform” from “buy”. It said the car maker’s strong outlook is in the price and its stock is trading at all-time high multiples.

9:36am: Indian stocks climb, tracking gains in Asian shares, amid speculation that disappointing US payrolls data will push the Federal Reserve’s interest-rate increases to next year.

The 30-share S&P BSE Sensex jumps 343 points, or 1.31%, to 26,563.95, while the 50-share Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) is up 94.75 points, or 1.19%, to 8,045.65.

All the sectoral indices are trading in the green, with the BSE Power being the top gainer, up 1.5%.

9:30am: Tata Motors Ltd climbs as much as 8.4% after an Economic Times report that said PSA Peugeot Citroen and Tata Motors are in talks to form a partnership that might result in Tata producing and distributing the French giant’s cars in the Indian market

9:25am: The rupee opens higher for a fifth consecutive session tracking gains in local equity markets. The home currency opens at 65.26 per US dollar, up 0.39% from its previous close of 65.51.

9:20am: The 10-year bond yield falls sharply in the opening trade. It opens at 7.548% and touches a low of 7.499%—a level last seen on 12 July 2013.

9:15am: Benchmark US crude gains 11 cents to $45.65 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude advances 15 cents to $48.94 per barrel in London. On Friday, it rose 41 cents to $48.79.

9:10am: Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rises 2% to 21,901.58 and Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 gains 1.2% to 17,941.62. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 rises 1.7% to 5,140.10 and South Korea’s Kospi adds 1.1% to 1,991.98. Taiwan, Singapore, Manila and Jakarta also advance. Markets in mainland China are closed for holidays until Thursday.

9:05am: Asian stocks rise on Monday after weak US jobs data prompted expectations the US Federal Reserve might postpone an interest rate hike.

9:00am: On Friday, the Dow Jones industrial average gained 1.2% and the Standard and Poor’s 500 added 1.4%. The Nasdaq composite rose 1.7%.
