PM Modi warns against 'games of death', breaks silence on Dadri, says inspired by Prez Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has been targeted over his silence on the mob killing in Dadri in Uttar Pradesh, today warned against "games of death" and asserted: "We will not let politics happen over it and not let Bihar be destroyed."

PM Modi did not make any reference to the ongoing controversy until his last rally in Bihar today at Nawada, where he urged that the country must follow President Pranab Mukherkjee's words on maintaining India's core values of diversity and tolerance.

"I had said that we should decide whether Hindus have to fight against Muslims or against poverty and same to Muslims. I had said that just after the bomb blasts that Hindus and Muslims should unite to fight against poverty. I requested everyone to go back to their homes peacefully and not let any reaction take place," he said.

"I want to tell the people that because of politics and for petty gains, people are making irresponsible statements. I appeal to citizens not to take them seriously. Even if Narendra Modi himself says something like that, don't listen to him. If you want to listen, then hear the speech of President Pranab Mukherjee yesterday. There can be no bigger thought that that. President has shown us the way, and we have to walk on that path. Only then will we be able to live up to the expectations of the world."

In his earlier rallies, PM Modi took digs at Lalu Prasad Yadav, referring to his comment that "Hindus also eat beef" and said: "The Yaduvanshis gave India the white revolution and made Gujarat the centre of it. But here, a neta (leader) of the Yadavs ate it."

"Yaduvanshi" describes the descendants of Krishna, who was a cowherd in Hindu mythology.

PM Modi said: "Lalu ji, elections come and go, but please remember these people of yaduvansh were with you. Lalu ji, you have made serious allegations about what yaduvanshis eat. When young people got angry at his words, he said that the devil had entered him. I want to know why the shaitan (devil) chose him."
