If you ignore us, then don't forget the saffron will bury you: Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray warns BJP Mumbai:  Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday launched one of the most stringent and acerbic attack on its ally: the BJP.

From the Ghulam Ali issue to building Ram Temple in Ayodhya to the recent Dadri issue, Uddhav took on not only the BJP but also the RSS.

Addressing a huge crowd at the Sena's annual Dussehra rally at Shivaji Park, Uddhav slammed BJP for changing its stand after coming to power.

"You just keep saying, we will build the Ram Temple, but you won't say when... You invoke Ram,, but Ram killed Ravan in Sri Lanka. If you really venerate him, then enter Pakistan and teach them a lesson," said Uddhav.

The Sena president slammed Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis for his statement that Maharashtra was shamed due to the attack on Sudheendra Kulkarni.

"It is not the Sena that has embarrassed, but incidents like Dadri have brought shame to the entire nation. Why are you going to people's homes and checking if they have eaten beef ? Just bring in the Uniform Civil Code and declare the country a Hindu state, then we will see who eats beef," said Uddhav.

While Uddhav slammed BJP for the Dadri incident, he also espoused the cause of Hindutva saying that the Sena was the true champion of Hindutva. He further added that the country should be fearful of a massive rise in Muslim population in another 20 years.

Criticising BJP, he said that while the BJP is opposed to cow slaughter, it is yet to take action against its minister Kiren Rijiju who openly declared that he eats beef. "Rijiju said that he eats beef, what did you (BJP) do," questioned Uddhav.

He also took on RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, who in his Vijayadashmi address this morning said that small communal incidents will not harm the nation's culture.

"These (Dadri) are small fires, but these small fires can lead to bigger catastrophe. This will affect the country and even the government could be destroyed by this," warned Uddhav.

The Sena president also took on the government and the BJP for the prevailing high prices of puls es. Reminding the audience that when the Sena formed the government in the state with the BJP in 1995, it had kept the prices of essential commodities under check. He questioned why the BJP was not able to do it now.

"Instead of talking about the cow, you should talk about the rising prices of commodities. People voted us to power to bring down prices. We will raise our voices against high prices. Why can't the government bring down prices? Onions had once brought down a government, if prices rise then we can't say what would happen," said the Sena president.

He also said that the Sena will not quit the government despite its differences with the BJP. "We know when to quit the government. Let us do some work, when we finish the good work, we will come out. We know how long we have to stay," said Uddhav.

The Sena president said that his party would continue to articulate its views whether the BJP likes it or not.

"We haven't changed our views when we were in the government or outside. If you (BJP) don't like it, then we won't hide it. Why is the BJP hurting when we talk against Pakistan?"

He ended his speech with another warning to BJP. "If you can get along with Mufti Mohammed in J&K, then you can also listen to us.If you ignore us, then don't forget the saffron will bury you." rails against BJP, but won't quit Govt.
