New Delhi: BJP veteran leader Lal Krishna Advani's wife Kamla Advani breathed her last on Wednesday due to cardiac arrest. She was earlier in the day admitted to AIIMS after suffering chest pain.
Kamla, who was in her early eighties, was not keeping well for quite a long time.In December 2015 too, she was admitted to AIIMS for having breathing problems.
As the news of her death broke, several eminent personalities offered their condolences.
The President Pranab Mukherjee has condoled the passing away of Smt. Kamla Advani, wife of Lal Krishna Advani.
In a condolence message to Lal Krishna Advani, the President has said, “I am deeply distressed to learn about the sad demise of your wife, Kamla.
She was the anchor of your life and constant companion through all ups and downs. I fondly recall her many visits to the Rashtrapati Bhavan accompanying you and her endearing presence. She was soft, cultured and left a lasting impression on whomsoever she met. As someone who lost his spouse recently, I feel your pain and sudden sense of loss.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences and convey the same to all members of your family. I pray to the Almighty to give you and your family the strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and wrote, "Deeply pained and saddened by Kamla Advani ji's demise. She always inspired and motivated Karyakartas and was LK Advani ji's pillar of strength."

Besides her husband, Kamla Advani (83) leaves behind, a son and a daughter.
She had been suffering from age-related problems for some time and was on wheelchair for the last few months.
Family sources said she was also suffering from memory loss. Over the years, Kamla Advani was almost a constant presence by the veteran politician's side during campaigns and functions.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who shares her wedding date with the Advanis, and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah also sent condolence messages after her death.
