iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus launches by Apple, coming to India on 7 Oct; prices start from Rs 60k NY: Apple CEO Tim Cook today announced two new iPhone models called the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus.

The Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be available in silver, gold, rose gold and the new black finish in 32GB, 128GB and 256GB models starting at Rs 60,000 and the new Jet Black finish will be offered exclusively on the 128GB and 256GB models from Apple Authorised Resellers and select carriers.

iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be available to customers in India beginning Friday, 7 October.

According to the CEO, these are the best iPhones Apple has ever created and they come with a couple of new features.

But first let’s begin with the design. Well, nothing much has changed really, and the iPhone 7 almost looks like an iPhone 6s or the 6 before it from the front. Turn it over on its back and you will notice a larger camera bump. Move over to the back of the iPhone 7 Plus and you will notice an even bigger one thanks to its dual camera sensors. Apart from the bigger bumps, the back of the new iPhones feature a new antenna design and this along with the new Jet Black finish make them almost invisible.

The iPhone 7 features a 4.7-inch Retina HD display while the bigger 7 Plus model features a 5.5-inch one. Both screens are expected to dazzle with a Wide Colour p3 display, one that also features dual-domain pixels for wider viewing angles. The resolutions of both displays remain the same as on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus models.

Moving to the insides, the new iPhones feature an all-new A1o Fusion chipset with a four core setup and an M10 motion co-processor. There are two low powered cores for normal tasks and bigger and more powerful high powered cores that kick in when handling games and other demanding apps. As always Apple did not mention the amount of RAM that the new smartphones feature.

Coming to the cameras, as expected Apple announced a newer 12MP module on the back and a 7MP module on the front. On the iPhone 7 owners will get a 12MP camera sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and a six-element lens set up along with OIS. On the iPhone 7 Plus, things change a bit. You get two 12MP sensors on the back. One that is paired to a standard wide angle lens, while the second one is paired to a telephoto lens. Apple will let you switch between the two and switching to telephoto will give users up to 2X optical zoom and 10x digital zoom. There is also a new portrait mode in the camera interface that delivers an enhanced depth of field. The flash units now get a 4 LED set up.

Back to the externals, the Home Button has changed. While its purpose still remains the same, Apple has now included a static button that now works with Force Touch and the taptic engine of the iPhone. Another big change was the absence of the 3.5mm headphone jack.

Apple will provide EarPods with a lightning connector and even include a free adaptor in the box. Apple also unveiled its new AirPod wireless earphones that comes with a 5 hour battery life and their own charging case.

Last but definitely not the least, the new iPhones are IP67 water and dust resistant and this also meant that Apple (being Apple) had to figure out a way to deliver the same audio quality that iPhone owners have come to expect from past iPhones. With the iPhone 7, Apple introduced a dual stereo speaker set up that are available on both smartphone models.

Apple also announced that the existing models of the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus would now be offered in a 32GB and 128 GB versions going forward.
