Rahul Gandhi worship in Hanuman Garhi, blessings of Mahant Gyandas Ayodhya: As Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi visits the Hanuman Garhi temple on Friday, he will become the first member of the Nehru-Gandhi family to visit Ayodhya since the demolition of the disputed structure in 1992. Rahul will also seek the blessings of Mahant Gyan Das, who is known for his anti-Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) stance.

From Ayodhya, the Congress leader will proceed to Ambedkar Nagar on the fourth day of his Deoria-Delhi .

"Rahul Gandhi will visit Hanuman Garhi temple for 'darshan' at 10 am and meet Mahant Gyan Das. There is no other programme or meeting with anybody else," said Ram Das Verma, president of District Congress Committee, Faizabad.

"We welcome all to the temple. Rahul Gandhi is also welcome. We are saints and we bless all those who seek our blessings," said Mahant Gyan Das.

Much significance is being attached to Rahul's proposed visit to Hanuman Garhi in Ayodhya in political circles.

Mahant recently shared dais with Akhilesh Yadav and blessed him at a function organised at the chief minister's residence.

"Rahul Gandhi has been projected in a negative light on the social media with some posts even suggesting that he does not care for the sentiments of the Hindus. His visit to Hanuman Garhi temple may help in reaching out to the people and dispelling the belief," said principal of KS Saket (PG) College in Ayodhya, Dr Pradeep Khare.

Congress leaders, however, assert that no political move is attached to Rahul's visit to Hanuman Garhi temple.

During his visit, Gandhi will stay away from the disputed complex and the site of 'shilanyas', the foundation stone that had been laid there in 1989 for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Rahul Gandhi will reach Faizabad on Friday evening.
