Davis Cup: Ramkumar Ramanathan to face Rafael Nadal in India-Spain opener New Delhi: Ramkumar Ramanathan will play India’s first rubber in the singles against Spain’s Rafael Nadal to open the World Group Playoff in the Davis Cup at the RK Khanna Stadium in the capital. The second match will see Saketh Myneni take court against David Ferrer to end proceedings on a vital day one of the contest.
in the doubles, Leander Paes and Myneni are penned in to play the French Open champions Feliciano and Marc Lopez.

The play on the first day commences at 5 PM as against the traditional afternoon start to give plenty of Indian supporters to throng the stadium and come out and make noise for India – as it is a surety that the hosts need it against a much experienced Spanish squad who have filled up the ranks in order to retain their place in the esteemed World Group for next year. The doubles on Saturday begins at 7 PM.

Anand Amritraj, the non-playing captain, also has the services of Sumit Nagal at his disposal if need be. And it looks possible that Amritraj will field the 2015 junior Wimbledon champion on the final day in case India find themselves 3-0 down at the close of play on Saturday. It would be a good opportunity for the young-gun to get some experience under his belt while representing his country in front of the home fans.
