Sri Lanka President Sririsena's 2nd anniversary in office, AP CM Naidu visits projects  Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu visited for Sri Lankan Capital Colombo on a two-day visit at the invitation of President Maithripala Sirisena. Naidu was the Guest of Honour at a function to mark the completion of two years in office of President Sirisena. He addressed audience on the topic "Prosperity to All." The event was celebrated with a focus on economic development under-pinning poverty alleviation and innovation in line with President's declaration that 2017 will be the year of Poverty Alleviation.

President Sirisena hosted a dinner for CM Naidu on his arrival on Saturday. On Sunday, Naidu visited the Sri Lankan projects in Colombo and attended the national ceremony to mark the entering into the era of sustainability following the restoration of democracy under the Presidency of Maithripala Sirisena- compassionate governance, a stable country, "the Dawn of Three Years in Sustainability".

As per the itinerary, the Chief Minister will deliver keynote address at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall. He will also meet the media in the evening. Naidu will also meet Non-Resident Indians (NRI) before his departure from Colombo.

President Sirisena highly commends the extremely successful achievements as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in fighting poverty and bringing innovation close to the lives of the people. According to an official Sri Lankan communiqué, President Sirisena wishes to launch a new program for poverty alleviation aimed at enhancing the already existing capabilities of communities to break through the poverty cycle and to increase the resilience of the marginally middle-class households. In working towards poverty alleviation, the President prioritizes Science technology and innovation for leapfrogging in development.

It may be recalled that President Sirisena had made two international commitments on the same subjects. First, at the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Heads-of State Summit held in Bangkok. He announced that Sri Lanka is ready to play a leading role in the Science Technology and Innovation pillar of ACD's priorities. Further at the recently held BRICS-BIMSTEC Summit in Goa, the President said Sri Lanka will take lead in innovation and establish a regional centre to facilitate sharing of innovation.
