PM Narendra Modi tweets 'Skipped Yoga' to meet mother, Arvind Kejriwal takes a dig New Delhi:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted this morning that he "skipped yoga" to meet his 95-year-old mother Heeraben in Gujarat's Gandhinagar. Arvind Kejriwal couldn't resist a sharp jibe in return.

PM Modi is in his home state for the "Vibrant Gujarat" global summit which begins today.
The phrase "skipped yoga" became a trending topic after PM Modi's tweet. The many responses to the tweet included a dig from Arvind Kejriwal.

"I live with my mother, take her blessings everyday but don't advertise it to the world. I also don't make my mother stand in a bank queue for politics," the Delhi Chief Minister commented in Hindi.

Heeraben, also known as "Hiraba", lives with her younger son Pankaj Modi.

Mr Kejriwal's barb referred to Heeraben's visit to a bank in November, days after PM Modi announced the scrapping of 500 and 1,000 rupee notes. On November 15, Heeraben went to a bank near her home in a wheelchair, waited her turn and was assisted by relatives as she walked in to swap Rs. 4,500 in denominations of Rs. 500. She later posed with a brand new Rs. 2,000 note handed to her.

Opposition parties had accused PM Modi of using his elderly mother as a shield against criticism and anger over the cash crunch after the notes ban.

The Prime Minister met his mother her last in December, when he was in the city to address BJP workers at the party's state headquarters not far from his mother's home. Mother and son met for 20 minutes, said the BJP.

PM Modi also spent his 66th birthday on September 17 with his mother.

The four-day Vibrant Gujarat summit is centred on the theme "Sustainable Economic and Social Development". A large number of foreign leaders, global and Indian CEOs are attending the eighth edition of the event started when Mr Modi was Chief Minister of Gujarat.
