Will he, won't he? Bob Dylan finally accepts Nobel Prize in person New Delhi: Legendary American singer Bob Dylan has finally accepted his Nobel Prize for Literature over three months after it was conferred upon him.

The BBC, quoting Swedish media reports, said that Dylan accepted the Nobel medal at a private event in Stockholm ahead of his scheduled concert in the city.

An official of the Swedish Academy, which hands out the Nobel Prize, told news agency the Associated Press that the private event "went very well indeed" and the American songwriter was "a very nice, kind man".

There's been a lot of mystery over the Nobel conferred to the 75-year-old Dylan. On October 13, last year, The Swedish Academy, which hands out the Nobel Prize, announced that Dylan was the winner of the 2016 literature award.

The academy called him a "a great poet in the English-speaking tradition" and that the prize was awarded "for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition".

Dylan, however, took a long time to even acknowledge the honour, leading to speculation that he may reject the award. He finally did comment about being honoured about being awarded the prize. But, he was unable to attend the December award ceremony, citing pre-existing commitments.

As a condition of receiving the 8 million kroner (approximately Rs 5.8 crore) award, Dylan must deliver a lecture before June this year. He hasn't do so yet, but the BBC reports that he is expected to do so via a video later this year.

Dylan, the BBC, is the first songwriter to win the Literature Nobel, which is usually associated with poets and novelists.
