The Yogi watch: All Uttar Pradesh madrasas to mandatorily register on government portal New Delhi: The Yogi Adityanath government has launched a website for madrasas of Uttar Pradesh, the first such step in India.

The government has made it mandatory for all madrasas to register on the portal. Minority minister Laxmi Narayan Choudhury inaugurated the portal in Tilak Hall of Vidhan Bhavan.

Under the new system, 560 of the state government grantees and 10,000 more accredited madrasas have to provide their information. All the madrasas have to give details of teachers and other employees with their building and class measurements as well as photographs. There are about 16,000 madrasas in the state, of which 560 are fully-aided.

The madrasas have to keep records of all functions conducted in their institutions. UP state minister Mohsin Raza welcomed this move and appreciated the government for giving a better platform for improving education in madrasas. The order was issued by registrar of UP Madrasa Shiksha Parishad, Rahul Gupta, who said there was nothing wrong with it. Recently, madrasas in UP had been ordered to compulsorily observe the Independence Day and make videos of the celebrations.
