Naxals burnt down Masudan railway station, abduct 2 with assistant station master; threatens to kill Patna: Throwing a big challenge to the government, a group of heavily-armed Naxals attacked a railway station in Bihar and fled after vandalising the government property.

According to ANI, the Masudan Railway Station in Bihar was attacked by Naxals late on Tuesday.

Two railways employees – an Assistant Station Master and one other railway staff – were abducted by Naxals as they fled from the scene after torching the station property.

However, there are no reports of any casualties as yet.

The Assistant Station Master abducted by the Naxals later called up the Maldah Divisional Railway Manager, saying the Maoists had threatened to kill all of them if trains continue to ply on Masudan track.

As a precautionary measure, all passengers have been requested to explore other alternatives.

Eastern Railway has halted three trains in Kiul-Jamalpur-Bhagalpur section of the Malda Division in the light of Naxal attack at Masudan Railway Station.

''Rail services have once again been stopped at the Kiul point,'' Rajesh Kumar, CPRO Eastern Railway, said.

Naxals or home-grown rebels have routinely targeted trains, railway stations and mobile phone towers in the country's eastern states.

In August, the Naxals hijacked a train in the Lakhisarai district of Bihar.

Earlier in March, a group of 20 armed Naxalites had attacked a railway station - Doikallu - in Odisha with explosives.

They planted a small tiffin bomb in the station master's office and near the engine of a goods train halted at the station.
