Congress Trying to Put The Blame on EVMs: Shivraj Singh Chouhan Bhopal: Launching a sharp attack on the Congress over its uproar over the EVMs, which it claims were tampered with, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan dismissed the allegations as baseless.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan claimed that the Election Commission was harshest with the BJP at times and was inhuman in its insistence on adherence to poll code.

Speaking to the media before leaving for a three-day trip to Bandhavgarh in Umaria, Chouhan critcised the grand old party for raising questions on the conduct of the EC since the day of polling and crying foul.

Shivraj pointed out that Jyotiraditya Scindia wrote to the EC on Nov 28 and again after the polling. The MP chief minister said that the Congress has resorted to battery of baseless allegations in the MP polls.

“For them (the Congress), the Election Commission are dishonest; the government employees and officers are dishonest and even the police is resorting to partisan behavior,” Chouhan continued with his attack on the Congress’s complaints over the handling of EVMs.

Narrating how the EC has been tough on the BJP, Shivraj pointed out how when his old friend and colleague Raghuveer Dangi died, the EC denied him permission to take part in the late leader’s funeral on Nov 27 saying that he can’t enter any other constituency than his own before the polling.

“But I did not complain over this,” he added, saying the Congress is persistently attempting to put the Commission in the dock.

“Unsure of its win, the Congress is trying to find a reason by questioning the EVMs and also wants to pressurise the administration by continuously crying foul,” said the Chief Minister accusing the Congress of spreading lies on WhatsApp.

Chouhan claimed the EC would look into the complaints made by the Congress and that the BJP has complete faith in the EVMs. On the BJP’s chances in MP polls, Chouhan claimed that the party was heading for a splendid win.

Speaking about the BJP’s chances in Rajasthan and Telangana, CM Shivraj claimed there was an atmosphere in favour of the BJP in these states.

Asked to comment on crashing prices of onion and garlic, the MP Chief Minister said he can’t make any announcement over government support due to poll code but he wants to assure farmers that his government won’t allow farmers to sustain losses.
