Manohar Parrikar passes away at 63: Amitabh Bachchan & other B'wood celebs mourn his death Delhi: Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar breathed his last on Sunday (March 17) after a prolonged illness. He was 63.  The former Defence Minister was battling health issues since a year and his condition turned extremely critical today. Manohar, who was diagnosed with a serious pancreatic ailment, was undergoing treatment at his private residence in Panaji. Bollywood celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Vivek Oberoi, Nimrat Kaur, Prasoon Joshi took to social media to mourn his death.

Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, ''T 3122 - Manohar Parikar CM Goa, passes away .. a gentleman to the core, simple in demeanour and well respected .. spent few short moments with him .. very dignified .. fought his illness bravely .. prayers and condolences.''

Akshay Kumar, who will be next seen in 'Kesari', said that he was extremely sad to hear the news about Manohar's demise.

''Extremely sad at hearing about the demise of Sh. Manohar Parrikar Ji. I feel blessed to have had the fortune of meeting and knowing a sincere and good soul as he was. Heartfelt condolences to his family,'' the 'Good News' actor wrote on the micro-blogging site.

Vivek Oberoi, who is essaying the role of PM Narendra Modi in his biopic, called Manohar Parrikar, a great leader.

''A true patriot passes away, RIP #ManoharParrikar ji. A great leader who we will always admire, remember and seek inspiration from. Heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones,'' the actor wrote on the micro-blogging site.

Actress Renuka Shahane called him one of the best politicians the country has ever seen. Check out her tweet!

'Airlift' actress Nimrat Kaur expressed her condolence over the demise of Manohar Parrikar. ''Deepest condolences on the very saddening demise of Manohar Parrikar ji. My prayers and strength to all his loved ones. #RIPManoharParrikar,'' the actress tweeted.

Raveena Tandon expressed her shock over Parrikar's demise.

Sanjay Dutt, who will be next seen in 'Kalank', wrote, ''Sad to hear about the loss of one of our finest leaders, #ManoharParrikar ji. May he rest in peace. My prayers are with the grieving family & friends.''
