In first cabinet meet first decision of MODI Govt 2.0, approves changes in PM's scholarship scheme Delhi: In the first cabinet meet of the newly formed Modi government on Friday evening, major changes were approved in the ‘Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme’ under the National Defence Fund. PM Narendra Modi  approved increase in the rates of scholarship from Rs. 2000 per month to Rs. 2500 per month for boys and from Rs. 2250 per month to Rs. 3000 per month for girls. The scholarship has also been extended to the wards of State Police officials who were killed in terror or naxal attacks.

Earlier, Modi government 2.0 took shape on Friday morning with BJP President Amit Shah making his debut in the Central government as India's new Home minister while incumbent Rajnath Singh was shifted to the Defence Ministry. Nirmala Sitharaman, the outgoing Defence minister, was appointed as the new Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs and  former foreign secretary S Jaishankar, was given the coveted External Affairs portfolio.
