RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat warns against 'misuse of power' In Stage Message By Goverment AKOLA: The RSS has asked the elected governments to guard against "misuse of power". RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, while addressing over 600 RSS volunteers, said: "Those getting elected in a democratic set-up have immense power, but this does not mean that it should be misused. If the government falters at any point of time, the Sangh will give it advice and suggestions with a positive point of view."

Bhagwat was in Akola to participate in the ongoing 20-day training programme of Purvi Kshetra Prashikshan Varg (east zone unit) which started on May 24 and will continue till June 13 at the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Sanatan Dharma Vidyalaya.

The RSS chief's comments come days after the Narendra Modi government was sworn in, following the BJP's overwhelming majority in the 17th Lok Sabha.

Bhagwat, who is on a four-day visit to Kanpur, asked volunteers not to be arrogant.

"No matter how much good work you have done and how much you have helped others, arrogance takes it away," he said.

RSS leader Mohan Agarwal told reporters: "He also exhorted them to bring social equality, and eradicate illiteracy, drug and alcohol addiction and other social evils."

The RSS had described the BJP's victory as the "triumph of national forces" and people of the country are fortunate to have a stable government once again.

"Many compliments to each and everyone who have contributed to this victory of democracy. The spirit and ideal of democracy have once again been established for the world to witness," Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) general secretary Bhaiyyaji Joshi said in a statement on May 23.

"Crores of people of Bharat are fortunate to have once again a stable government," he said.

He further said that the Sangh trusts that the new government shall endeavour and succeed in fulfilling the aspirations and ambitions of the common people.

"We wish that with the completion of the polling process, all bitterness will end and the verdict of the masses is welcomed with humility," he added.
