No question of Kashmir mediation, says Rajnath Singh

Delhi: Lok Sabha witnessed stormy scenes as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reiterated External Affairs Minister Jaishankar's statement that “there is no question of any mediation on Kashmir issue.”"As S Jaishankar said Kashmir issue was not discussed in President Trump and PM Modi meeting. There is no question of mediation in Kashmir issue as it will be against the Shimla agreement," Singh said while facing massive uproar from Opposition MPs.
Midway during his speech, the Opposition MPs walked out the House. Prior to that, Congress members sprang in to the Well soon after the Question Hour began and were engaged in sloganeering.
Over 30 members, mainly from the Congress, were in the Well shouting slogans even as Speaker Om Birla went ahead with the Question Hour.

He claimed that Modi had asked him to play the role of a mediator on Kashmir but the government vehemently denied that the prime minister made no such request to the US President.Trump claims that Indian PM Modi asked him to mediate on the Kashmir issue when they met in Osaka, Japan, on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit in June.Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said that External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has already clarified on the issue and wondered what was the problem now.
