PM Modi In Mann Ki Baat: India's Situation Better As Compared To Other Countries Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the situation of India in terms of fatality rate due to Coronavirus is relatively better than other countries of the world, while addressing the nation in his monthly radio talk ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on the last day of lockdown 4.0. PM Modi’s address comes hours after the Ministry of Home Affairs announced phase-wise unlocking plan for the country, beginning June 8. PM said that it is important to be even more vigilant as major chunk of economy has opened up, says PM Narendra Modi on Covid-19 outbreak. "There should be no laxity in maintaining six feet distance (Do Gaj Doori), wearing masks and staying indoors as much as possible. We need to be more vigilant now. Due to everyone's support, fight against Covid-19 is being fought strongly," Prime Minister Modi said in his address. 

Addressing the issue of poor labourers who are migrating to their native places, Prime Minister Modi said that the section which is worst-affected in the Coronavirus crisis, is the poor and the labourers. "Their pain, their agony, and their ordeal can't be expressed in words," he said.

Prime Minister’s address to the nation holds high significance as it comes a day after Modi 2.0 government , completed a year in the office.

India's fight against COVID-19 is people-driven and country's 'seva shakti' is visible in this battle, PM said in his address.

Background:

On Saturday, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued new guidelines for phased re-opening of "all activities outside containment zones for the next one month.” In Phase 1, all religious places will be thrown open in non-containment zones from June 8. Hotels, restaurants and other hospitality services and even shopping malls will be allowed to reopen in the non-containment zones.

In the 64th episode of 'Mann Ki Baat', the Prime Minister had focused on the situation prevailing in the country due to Covid-19 and urged people to help the poor, migrants and needy during the lockdown.
He had said that India's fight against coronavirus is "people-driven" and is being fought by the masses and the administration together.

India has so far seen four extensions of the nationwide lockdown which was imposed to reduce coronavirus transmission on March 24.  Now the government plans to unlock the nation in a phase-wise manner.
