Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi Focuses On Covid-19, Kargil Victory & Independence Day Mann Ki Baat: In his Mann Ki Baat address of this month which coincides with the 21st anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the courage of the Indian soldiers and slammed Pakistan for its evil intentions. He said, ‘it is the nature of the wicked to harbour animosity towards one and all.’ His speech also focussed on the Coronavirus situation in India.

“21 years ago on this day, our army won the Kargil war. India was then trying to have cordial relations with Pakistan but it is said that it is in the nature of the wicked to have enmity with everyone for no reason,” PM said attacking Pakistan.

“Pakistan undertook this misadventure with sinister plans to capture India's land and to divert attention from its internal conflicts," said PM Modi.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Modi also tweeted to hail the sacrifice and valour of the Indian jawans who fought the Kargil battle, on the 21st anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas

On Coronavirus:

Talking about Coronavirus, PM highlighted that fatality rate of India is much lower as compared to other countries, but the threat of the pandemic is not over yet. "Today, Covid-19 recovery rate in our country is better than others. Our fatality rate is much less than most of the other countries. We are able to save the lives of lakhs of people, but threat of Coronavirus is not over yet. It is spreading fast in many areas, we need to remain vigilant," PM Modi said.

"Social distancing. Wearing masks. The focus on these must continue," he said. He asked people to think of frontline Corona warriors who carry out their tasks inside PPE kits all day long, whenever they get tired of wearing masks.

Independence Day:

As Independence Day is approaching, PM Modi said that this year, the celebrations will be different keeping in mind the pandemic situation. "I urge people that on this 15th August to take resolve to get freedom from Coronavirus, for Aatmanirbhar Bharat, to learn and teach something new, and abide by our duties," he said.

For this episode Prime Minister Naremdra Modi  had invited people with 'inspiring anecdotes' of their collective efforts have brought about positive changes in the society.

A day before, PM Modi took to Twitter and shared a number and asked people to post their recorded messages. He has also asked countrymen to use the NaMo app and My Gov website to post their stories.

Sharing such stories, PM Modi said: "During Covid-19, Balbir Kaur, sarpanch of Trewa in Jammu, built a 30-bed quarantine centre in her panchayat. Jaituna Begum of Chountliwar in Ganderbal resolved that her panchayat will fight Covid-19 & also create employment opportunities."

 

PM spoke to students of different states who aced their examinations and shared their success stories.

 

As the festival of Raksha Bandhan is approaching, Prime Minister said that many people and organisations are running initiatives to celebrate the festival in a different manner. "Many are linking it to 'Vocal for Local' & that is right. The joy of celebrating festival increases when it helps expand the business of people in our society, in our neighbourhood & make it a joyous festival for them too," PM said.
