Air India Flight With 180 Onboard From Dubai Skids Off Runway

Kozhikode: In a tragic incident, an Air India Express flight with as many as 180 passengers on board en route from Dubai skidded off the runway while landing at Karipur Airport, Kozhikode on Friday evening.
As per reports, the Air India Express flight was about to land at Kerala’s Kozhikode when the incident happened.
"Dubai-Kozhikode Air India flight (IX-1344) skidded during landing at Karipur Airport at around 7.45 pm today," Kondotty Police informed. The Air India flight (IX-1344) from Dubai, carrying 174 passengers, skidded during landing at Karipur Airport in Kozhikode (Kerala) today. There were 6 crew members onboard, including two pilots, Air India Express said in an official statement.
Initial reports suggest that both the pilots of the aircraft have died while several other onboard are feared dead.
Reports of injuries have also came to light while rescue operation is underway. It is also being said that the Air India Express flight veered off the runway after overshooting and fuselsge split into two parts.
"Air India Express AXB1344, B737 Dubai to Calicut, person on board 191, visibility 2000 meter, heavy rain, after landing Runway 10, continue running to the end of the runway and fell down in the valley and broke down into two pieces," Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in an official statement.
As per sources, the plane landed at the airport amid heavy rain and after landing at Runway 10, it continued running until the end of the runway and fell down in the valley and broke into two pieces.
