NCDC and Odisha govt join hands to promoting Farmer Producer Organisation, signs MoU
New Delhi: MoU has been signed between National Co-operative Development Corporation (NCDC) and Government of Odisha on 11 September 2020, at Krushi Bhawan, Bhubaneswar for implementation of Central Sector Scheme on Formation and Promotion of Farmers Producer Organisation (FPO). The MoU was signed between Shri. Shardul S Jadhav, Regional Director, NCDC and Shri. Rohit Kumar Lenka, Director  Horticulture on behalf of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Department, Govt. of Odisha in presence of Shri. Suresh Kumar Vashishth, Special Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment, Government of Odisha.
 
Under this Central Sector Scheme NCDC will be implementing agency for formation and promotion of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) in the state and will provide financial assistance to FPOs.
 
Along with financial assistance NCDC will  impart training, provide guidance to small and marginal farmers/ FPO of Odisha to strengthen them to face various challenges related to productivity, quality management, optimum price realisation, credit requirements, Agro processing, and marketing .
 
FPOs assisted by NCDC will be governed / managed as per the Cooperative Society Act.
 
The vision behind the MoU is of Shri. Sundeep Kumar Nayak, Managing Director, NCDC and Dr. Saurabh Garg, Principal Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment, Govt. of Odisha. Under the leadership of Shri. Sundeep Kumar Nayak, MD, NCDC, the scheme will be implemented in the State for benefit of the farmers.
