Covid-19 Vaccination: People Above 60 Yrs To Be Vaccinated From March 1

DelhiFrom March 1, people above 60 years of age and those above 45 years of age with comorbidities will be vaccinated, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar announced on Wednesday.

About the vaccination drive, it has been informed that the people above 60 years of age and those above 45 years of age with comorbidities will be vaccinated at 10,000 government and over 20,000 private vaccination centres. The vaccine will be given free of cost at government centres.

Adding to this, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar also stated that those who want to get vaccinated from private hospitals will have to pay. The amount they would need to pay will be decided by the health ministry within 3-4 days as they are in discussion with manufacturers and hospitals.

The Coronavirus inoculation drive began on January 16 in India after the approval of Covishield and Covaxin, the second dose needs to be taken 28 days after the first one. Recently, as the 28 days' time passed, the "booster" shot began to be administered.

So far, healthcare and frontline workers have been given priority, and now those above the age of 60 years and 45 years with comorbidities will be able to receive the vaccine.
