The Kerala government is conducting a seroprevalence study to take stock of the spread of the Covid-19 virus as the state on Saturday reported 20,487 new cases. Health Minister Veena George said the study began earlier this month and is expected to be completed by the end of September. The study would help understand the COVID seropositivity rate among various age groups including children, she told reporters.
Also, 22,155 recoveries and 181 deaths in the last 24 hours were reported.
"The Health Department is conducting the seroprevalence study. It is expected to be completed by this month-end. It will be carried out among children as well as adults," the minister said.
The Centre has told the Supreme Court that the health ministry and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) have come out with guidelines for issuing 'official document' for Covid-related deaths, according to PTI.
In an affidavit filed before the top court, the Centre also submitted that the Office of the Registrar General of India on September 3 had issued a circular to provide a Medical Certificate of Cause of Death to the next of kin of the deceased.
According to the guidelines, those COVID-19 cases would be considered which have been diagnosed through RT-PCR test, molecular test, rapid-antigen test or clinically determined through investigations at a hospital or in-patient facility by a treating physician, while admitted at the hospital or in-patient facility.
