3 cops killed in encounter with Naxals Dumka: Three policemen, including an Officer-in-Charge, were killed and six others injured in an encounter with Maoists at Taldangal jungle under Kathikund police staion about 35 km from here today.

Seven members of the outfit were also arrested, senior police officials said.

In Ranchi, police spokesperson and IG (Ops) RK Mullick confirmed the deaths.

The encounter, which was still on, began at about 0400 hrs.

Addtional forces were sent to the area.

Police had the tip-off that the Maoists were hiding in the jungle and sent forces to conduct raids.

Seeing the forces, the Maoists opened fire, forcing police to retaliate.

The deceased was identified as OC of Jamma police station Sadanand Singh and two others were jawans of Jharkhand Jaguar.

DGP Neyaj Ahmed reached to the spot to take stock of the situation.
