SAMBHAV 2020, An International event for and by Divyangjan to start from tomorrow on Virtual Mode
Association for Learning Performing Arts & Normative Action (A.L.P.A.N.A.), a Delhi based NGO registered with the Registrar of Societies, government of Delhi in 2004 has been working relentlessly for the empowerment and mainstreaming of Divyangjan (Persons with disabilities). A.L.P.A.N.A. institute is an unique integrated institute where both challenged and non challenged students get training in dance, music, drawing, painting and different craft works without any segregation.

Through its regular classes, special shows and stage events, A.L.P.A.N.A intends to contribute towards making our society more inclusive towards the differently abled persons.

To meet with its espoused objectives, for the past fifteen years, A.L.P.A.N.A has been holding an annual event called ‘SAMBHAV’ which aims to showcase the abilities of the differently abled people in the field of performing arts. It had its beginnings in 2006 as local event, but in 2007 it evolved to become a day-long national event. In 2008, A.L.P.A.N.A decided to expand ‘SAMBHAV’ to include a few countries of South Asia namely Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh. Since A.L.P.A.N.A was interested in both the intellectual underpinnings and operational aspects, the event was divided into two broad sections, the first section was an international seminar where papers were presented by Experts and Gurus working with physically and mentally challenged people and the second section was performances by the specially gifted persons of A.L.P.A.N.A. and other invited countries. Since SAMBHAV 2008 till SAMBHAV 2019 delegates from more than 35 countries and different states of India have participated in this mega event.

The main objectives of SAMBHAV are:

i. To promote inclusive growth and to be a catalyst in fulfilling the commitments of the
global society towards Divyangjan
ii. To create awareness and inclusiveness in the society
iii. To empower ‘Divyangjan’, through development of skills and enhancement of creativity in
various fields of arts; and
iv. To work towards sharing of ideas, knowledge, achievements and experiences through sustainable interactions among different stakeholders.

Over the past fifteen years, SAMBHAV has grown manifold and expanded its ambit to project India as not only incredible but also inclusive. A.L.P.A.N.A NGO has proven its mettle in the Indian National Capital as a leading organization for its achievement towards a more inclusive and equitable society for Divyangjan (Persons with Disabilities). A.L.P.A.N.A. has been working ardently through SAMBHAV to showcase the talents of Divyangjan and to prove to the world that their efforts and courage are
not hindered by any kind of obstacles in the form of disabilities.

The current COVID pandemic has not dampened the spirit of A.L.P.A.N.A. NGO even a bit. During these difficult times A.L.P.A.N.A. is brave enough to present SAMBHAV 2020, the 15th SAMBHAV in a row on VIRTUAL MODE. SAMBHAV 2020 going to be held on 18, 19 & 20 December includes webinars, Art & Craft workshops, Yoga workshop and seminar, Workshops on Dance & Music Therapy, Exhibitions of paintings and artifacts made by Divyang artists and most importantly International event of performances.
