The election process of new management committee members in the renowned Sabka Ghar Cooperative Group Housing Society located in Sector 6 of Dwarka Sub city, South West Delhi, has begun. Nomination forms were issued on September 3, 2024.

Outgoing vice-president of Sabka Ghar CGHS, Mrs. Preeti Agarwal today said our correspondent that over two dozen forms so far have been distributed to contest for various positions on the management committee. She mentioned that the current committee's three-year term is coming to an end, and hence the elections are being held as per the rules.

Mrs. Agarwal explained that according to their bylaws, elections are being conducted for a total of nine positions, which include a President, a Vice-President, two mandatory female members, and five other members. She added that after the election, one of the seven elected members is selected as the Secretary and another as the Treasurer during a meeting where all members come to a mutual agreement.

Mrs. Agarwal noted that their tenure began on September 5, 2021. Therefore, as per the rules, they informed the Registrar of Cooperative Group Housing Societies (RCS) on June 3, 2024, approximately 90 days before the completion of their term on September 5, 2024, requesting the necessary actions to conduct the elections. When no response was received from the RCS despite a second request, the management committee exercised its rights under the DCS Act 2003 and RCS Rules 2007, and on August 13, 2024, appointed Mr. T.P. Singh, a retired gazetted officer listed on the RCS panel, as the Returning Officer for the election of the new management committee under Section 35(1). The nomination forms for the election have now been issued under his supervision.

Mrs. Agarwal informed that the voting for the new committee will take place on September 15. She expressed gratitude to the members and residents of Sabka Ghar for their extensive support to the management committee, acknowledging that many development works were accomplished due to collective efforts. She urged members to actively participate in the upcoming elections, stating that it is time for new individuals to join the management committee and continue the development work.
