Syria crisis: Who's behind the chemical attack! New Delhi: In the aftermath of the US firing cruise missiles at Syrian airbases preceeded by the chemical attack on the Syrian town of Khan Sheikhoun, the Syrian government has urged UN Security Council to mobilize all efforts to combat terrorism and respect the rules of international law and Charter of the United Nations. According to an official release, 'The government of Syrian Arab Republic calls upon the Security Council to assume its responsibilities under the UN Charter and to hold an emergency session to consider the serious consequences of the US aggression on Syria, condemn it and discuss ways to ensure that it is not repeated as an act that threatens security and peace in the region n the world.'

On April 7, US attacked Syrian army's Sharyat air base in the central region dropping Tomahawk missiles as punishment on pretext of Syrian government using chemical weapons which saw the gruesome death of two dozen children and 80 people. According to reports the poison gas attack on citizens in a rebel held town was allegedly committed by Damscus regime.

Calling it a blatant aggression on its soverignty and soil, Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to India, Dr Raid Abbas has confirmed in an offical statement that the Syrian army does not possess chemical weapons and has never used such weapons in any of its operations against armed terrorist groups. At the same time it has condemned the use of such weapons by anyone, anywhere, anytime and under any circumstances.

Refuting every charge against the use of sarin gas on civilians in Syria, the envoy affirmed that those who use and stockpiled such weapons in many parts of Syria are armed terrorist groups, cooperating with or under the cover of a number of regimes in the region and outside including those of Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and some European countries that documented information about using chemical weapons by terrorists. It said the Syrian Republic has cooperated fully and constructively with the Organisation for the Prohibition of chemical weapons (OPCW) and carried out all its obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) as evidenced by Technical Secretariat Report.

Dr Riad Abbas said, the real objective of US aggression against Syria is to weaken the Syrian Arab Army in confronting terrorist groups and its in the interest of Israel and terrorist organisations of Jabhat al-Nusra and ISIS, which is used by United States to acheive its objectives in Syria. He said that this is not the first time the US has resorted to aggression against Syrian army, which is considered a real force by its allies in fighting terrorism in Syria and the region.

The Syrian government representative asserted that the US government that leads the alleged anti terrorist coalition killed hundereds of Syrian civilains which has been acknowledged by the US military command itself and the confessions of other countries in the coalition adding that the coalition raids also destroyed many Syrian infrastructure facilities, bridges, hospitals and schools.

Reasons attributed by the Dr Abbas for US invasion of Syria may stand verified in case of any fair investigation be conducted by the UNSC. Middle East is a hot bed of pursuit by the West particularly the US since long. After Obama's adventures in Syria, Syrian government feels Trump wants to prove that he is a strong American President to satisfy his lobbies in America. By hitting Syrian airbase US President wished to send message to Syria's allies that it is strong enough to face all of them together as also to send message to Gulf states that they should support America financially in return for all the services received by gulf countries. Another is to exercsie pressure on Syria so that Syrian government agrees to the terms and conditions put by US. The immediate trigger, Syria said is, when the army of mercenaries have failed to deliver their job the US forces have intervened.

Over the time dealing with America for last many years officially and unofficailly (through allies) that has seen increase in violence in Syria, the Syrian establishment has come to singularly define what the western superpower is looking for. Officals say Americans want that they should be invited and treated like Russian allies. In exchange America is promising financial and economical support in cooperation with Russian Federation. If invited they would ask the Turks to withdraw from Syrian territory. Official says they have been asked to allow kurds to fight with Syrian forces against the ISIS and give Kurds autonomy in the region. They have been asked to cooperate directly with Turkey and Iran. They have been asked to make new constitution for the country. Revealing more he said they want us to enroll some of the terrorists as senior personnel in our army who will play active part in keeping peace in many of our regions which means to give them some high posts in the Syrian army as Generals and then help them stand in elections.

Sources attribute two reasons for the engagement. Political aspirtions, that Syria should be under American domination and economically they want to control the pipeline from Syria to Qatar.

Syrian crisis has been transformed from a regional into an international crisis. Although India has remained mum on the activities in this region which according to Syria proves that it is a friend, by not taking sides, India has as yet neither issued any statement on either the chemical attack or the US missile attack. Meanwhile Russia and Iran have taken no time in declaring that it will retaliate if Syria is attacked again. As the Syrian envoy says the conditions are very serious. Its war like.
