India's Digital Strike On China! List Of 10 Most Popular Apps

Delhi: Soon after the Government of India announced its decision to ban as many as 59 popular Chinese mobile application citing that these apps are engaged in activities prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, the security of state and public order", there was a panic-like situation amongst the users and several rushed to social media inquire about the details.

With this move, Indian users will no longer be able to use some of the most popular applications such as TikTok and others on their smartphone and other devices.

A press release by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has listed 59 apps that will be blocked on internet and non-internet served devices in India.

Here's a list of top 10 mobile applications banned by the Government of India:

TikTok

TikTok is a Chinese video-sharing social networking service owned by ByteDance, a Beijing-based internet technology company founded in 2012 by Zhang Yiming. It is used to create short dance, lip-sync, comedy and talent videos.

SHAREit

SHAREit is a technology company founded in April 2015. The company produces an app, also called SHAREit, which is compatible with various smartphone platforms allows users to share files between devices directly.

Helo

Helo is India's leading social media platform with 50,000,000+ users. The mobile application allows users to share their thoughts and ideas as a content creator and inspire people around them.

Club Factory

A China based e-commerce store Club factory launched its application which facilitates users to shop fashion, beauty and other lifestyle items. The e-commerce store is headquartered in Hangzhou, Zhejiang and was created by a Chinese company Jiayun Data Technology in the year 2014.

UC Browser

A China based web browser called UC Browser was developed by the mobile Internet company 'UCWeb'. Technically owned by the Alibaba Group only, the app was once considered more popular than Google Chrome in some countries like India and Indonesia.

CamScanner

CamScanner is a mobile app that allows iOS and Android devices to be used as image scanners. This app is available for free on Google Playstore & App Store. This app was developed by Chinese Company Instig. It allows for users to easily scan and share.

Shein

SHEIN is an affordable online shopping platform with a distinct tone focusing on women's fashion. Just like Myntra, the mobile app of e-commerce giant Shein has women's clothing, men's clothing, kids' clothing, shoes and accessories to shop from.

WeChat

WeChat is a Chinese multi-purpose messaging, social media and mobile payment app developed by Tencent. Since its release in 2011, this Chinese application became one of the world's largest standalone mobile apps in 2018, with over 1 billion monthly active users

Vmate

Vmate is a short video editor and video sharing community with millions of users worldwide. It's one of India's top free video maker app. VMate is available in 10 Indian languages.

Clash Of Kings

Clash of Kings is a mobile massively multiplayer online strategy game developed and published by Beijing based firm Elex Tech. The game has been one of the top grossing apps on the App Store and Google Play since its release in 2014.
