DGCA Directs Airline To Stop Ticket Sales Immediately

New Delhi: Directorate General Of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the aviation regulator of India has issued a show cause notice to the Go First airline for their failure to continue operations in a safe, efficient and reliable manner, reported PTI quoting a source. Aviation regulator DGCA has also directed Go First to stop the sale of tickets with immediate effect till further orders.

Earlier, sash-strapped airline Go First said it has cancelled all its flights till May 12. The Wadia group-owned carrier has filed a plea for voluntary insolvency resolution proceedings before the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), and the tribunal reserved its order.

Initially, the airline cancelled all the flights for three days starting from May 3 and later, it was extended till May 9. Now, flights are cancelled till May 12, while the aviation regulator DGCA said the airline has suspended the sale of tickets till May 15.

The watchdog has also directed the airline to process the refunds to passengers as per the timelines specifically stipulated in the relevant regulations.

Go First blamed engine maker P&W for not delivering Airbus A320 plane engines, resulting in half of its fleet to be grounded. This caused cash stress on the airline, ultimately resulting in bankruptcy.

The airline said they will go to the courts in various countries against the US Engine Maker Pratt & Whitney.
