Telangana:12 dead, 22 injured in massive explosion at chemical factory A devastating explosion at Sigachi Chemical Industry in Pashamilaram on Monday has claimed 12 lives, while 22 others are undergoing treatment, including 11 in critical condition on ventilators. The blast, triggered by a reactor explosion, caused a massive fire and hurled workers up to 100 meters away, trapping several in nearby tents. Firefighters and rescue teams are working at the site to control the blaze and search for survivors. Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion.

The number of people who lost their lives in this accident is expected to increase. Police officials said that six bodies were recovered from the spot. While some workers died during treatment in the hospital. In the video of the incident, it can be seen that the workers coming out of the factory were badly burned. The injured people were shifted to hospitals, and their condition was not known immediately, as the rescue operation was still in progress.

 The explosion sparked a massive fire, engulfing parts of the facility and causing panic in the surrounding area.

V Satyanaryana, Inspector General Multi Zone II, said "There was a blast at Sigachi Pharma, a chemical production factory in Pasamailaram. The incident occurred around 8:15-9:35 am. A total of 8 people have lost their lives, and 26 others have been injured in the incident. Six bodies have been found, and two people died while undergoing treatment at Chanda Nagar. We reached the spot within 20 minutes. NDRF, SDRF, and other rescue teams, along with 10 fire engines, arrived at the scene... Firefighting efforts are still ongoing, and the rescue operation is in progress. We will provide further details later."

PM Modi expresses condolences

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed anguish at the loss of lives due to a fire tragedy at a factory in Sangareddy, Telangana. He also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the next of kin of each deceased.

"Anguished by the loss of lives due to a fire tragedy at a factory in Sangareddy, Telangana. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000," PMO said in an x Post quoting PM Modi.
