JDU declares 44 candidates for Bihar polls, fields Bijendra Prasad Yadav from Supaul

New Delhi: The Janata Dal United (JDU) on Thursday released its second list of 44 candidates for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, declaring all of its 101 nominees for the elections as per the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) seat-sharing deal. Senior leader and Cabinet Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav has been given the ticket from Supaul. This time, the JDU has fielded four Muslim candidates as per the second list. These are Saba Zafar from Amour, Manzar Alam from Jokihat, Shagufta Azim from Araria, and Mohd Zama Khan from Chainpur.

Other prominent candidates in the upcoming elections include Jayant Raj Kushwaha, who will be contesting from the Amarpur constituency. Dulal Chandra Goswami is in the fray from Kadwa, while Bijay Singh Nishad will be contesting from Barari. Shailesh Kumar, also known as Bulo Mandal, is running for the Gopalpur seat. Chetan Anand from Nabinagar and Lalit Narayan Mandal from Sultanganj are also included in the list.

Apart from Shagufta Azim, eight other women have also been given the tickets in JDU's second list, including Shalini Mishra from Kesaria, Shweta Gupta from Sheohar, Mina Kumari Kamat from Babubarhi, Sheela Kumari Mandal from Phulparas, Sonam Rani Sardar from Triveniganj, Manorama Devi from Belaganj and Vibha Devi Yadav from Nawada.

JDU's first list of candidates

On Wednesday, the JDU released its first list of 57 candidates, which included several senior leaders and sitting MLAs, including Vijay Kumar Choudhary, a minister in the state government, who will contest from Sarairanjan, Shrawan Kumar from Nalanda, Madan Sahni from Bahadurpur, Maheshwar Hazari from Kalyanpur, Narendra Narayan Yadav from Alamnagar and Niranjan Kumar Mehta from Bihariganj.

Other prominent candidates included Santosh Kumar Nirala (Rajpur), Binay Kumar Choudhary (Benipur), Umesh Singh Kushwaha (Mahnar), Shri Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha (Jagdishpur), Komal Singh (Gaighat) and Vidya Sagar Singh Nishad (Morwa).

Apart from Komal Singh, the JDU declared three other women candidates in the first list, including Kavita Sah from Madhepura, Ashwamedh Devi from Samastipur and Raveena Kushwaha from Bibhutipur.

The final list of candidates comprises 37 from the OBC category, 22 from the EBC category, 22 from the General category, 15 from the SC category, and 1 from the ST category. Overall, 13 women candidates have been given tickets.

According to the seat-sharing deal, the BJP and the JDU will contest 101 seats each, while the LJP-RV will fight 29 seats. The HAM and the RLM were allotted six seats each.

Bihar Assembly Election 2025

The Assembly Elections of Bihar will be conducted in two phases on November 6 and 11. The counting of votes will take place on November 14.
