ICSI organizes interactive session with Secretary, MCA to strengthen governance and Ease of doing Business

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) organized an Interactive Session with Ms. Deepti Gaur Mukerjee (IAS), Secretary, MCA, for its stakeholders, on 9 January 2026 in New Delhi.

In alignment with its commitment to working closely with regulators and stakeholders, the ICSI has taken a yet another step towards building synergies to support robust governance, easing compliance, and promote ease of doing business.

Addressing the gathering, Ms. Deepti, Gaur Mukerjee, said, “India’s growth must be aligned with a strong sense of responsibility and adherence to law. As more companies come into existence, Company Secretaries are going to play a vital role in setting them up and guiding their operations within the framework of good corporate governance”. She further added that, “Ease of doing business must be pursued alongside ethical conduct and excellence. A forward-looking synergy between the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and Company Secretaries will strengthen both India’s economic and soft power, enabling businesses to grow sustainably and ethically.”

Expressing his gratitude to the Ministry for extending the annual filing dates that provided timely relief to businesses and professionals, CS Dhananjay Shukla, President, The ICSI, said, “The move will enable a smoother and more accurate compliance, while strengthening the overall governance culture and keeping regulatory requirements proportionate.” He also assured of the ICSI’s commitment to working closely with regulators, policymakers and stakeholders to strengthen governance standards and support India’s growth and ease of doing business.

Around 300 Company Secretary Professionals attended this interactive session with the MCA Secretary, who invited suggestions on simplifying compliances, expanding professional outreach through PM Internship scheme to bring more entities into the formal framework and redefining Company Secretary’s role through global multidisciplinary and knowledge-driven initiatives.

CS Pawan G Chandak, Vice President, the ICSI, CS Manish Gupta, Former President & Council Member, the ICSI also addressed the gathering on the occasion while CS Asish Mohan, Secretary, the ICSI presented the Vote of Thanks.
