New Delhi: Third Bilasuni Mahotsava was held at village Bilasuni in Block Niali of Cuttack District with much pomp and massive fanfare. The Three days long Sports cum Cultural Carnival from 30th January to 1st February 2026 was witnessed by a mammoth crowd of Ten Thousand local residents. Hosted by Gopabandhu Evergreen Anchalika Yuba Parishad (GEAYP) and Voluntary Association for Empowerment, Development and Action (VEDA), the Mega Event was a huge success.
GEAYP has been actively promoting quality sports in Bilasuni since a long time. VEDA is engaged in the overall enhancement of value based education, health care, sports, culture and religious activities in rural belt of Odisha under the dynamic stewardship of its Chairman Dr Badri Narayan Mahapatra.
Gracing the Festival on the first day State’s health and family welfare Minister Dr Mukesh Mahaling, pledged his firm commitment to extend all possible support for the overall development of Bilasuni and to empower its residents. Dr Mahaling released the Souvenir of Bilasuni Mahotsava edited by noted litterateur Sukanti Rout during the occasion.
On 30th January 2026 the Mahotsava commenced with Shree Gopaljew one day long Football Tournament among eight local Football teams. While the Baharana team became winner, the Brahmani Jharilo team became runners up. Guests of honour former MLAs Dr Pramod Kumar Mallick and Rabindra Kumar Mallick presented the Trophies. The major attraction of the Third Bilasuni Mahotsava was the Mahadev Mahapatra Memorial Inter District and Inter State Football Tournament among Eight Front ranking teams. While the winner of the Cup was Cuttack team, the Khordha team became the Runners-up. The other participating teams were West Bengal, Jagatsinghpur, Sonepur, Bolangir, Deogarh and Jharkhand. The Tournament was inaugurated by Chairman of Atma Ganeswar Mishra, Additional Tahasildar Prabhat Jena and Sarpanch of Bilasuni Sabita Nanda. Chairman of Gopabandhu Evergreen Anchalika Yuba Parishad Chakradhar Raj conducted the proceedings of the meetings. President Bishnu Charan Dalua read out the Annual Report.Secretary Lalatendu Sahoo proposed vote of thanks.
Attending the closing ceremony of the Bilasuni Mahotsava as Chief Guest MLA Chhabi Mallick lauded the noble efforts put up by GEAYP and VEDA in organising Bilasuni Mahotsava. Shri Mallick assured that the present playground will be developed and a mini stadium will be constructed soon at the tournament site. In their speech distinguished guests BJP leaders Sashikanta Lenka and Pradip Mahanta observed that cultural Fairs like Bilasuni Mahotsava play a vital role in spreading the message of unity, goodwill and brotherhood among the local people. Presiding over the Meetings in all three days, Chief host Dr Badri Narayan Mahapatra sought everybody’s sincere support and hearty cooperation to transform Bilasuni into an inclusive grown self sufficient Model Village.
The Highlight of the Third Bilasuni Mahotsava was the spectacular cultural extravaganza presented during all the three evenings. The reputed artistes who mesmerised the audiences with their power packed performances include Famous singer Ira Mohanty, Ollywood stars Deepak Barik, Riya Dey and comedy masters duo Pranjya-Sankar. Actress Trupti Mirambika, Payal Priyadarshini, talented performers of Sadhana Kala Kendra and Kuttam Chandi Dance Group also enthralled the audiences with their spectacular presentations. Lalatendu Sahoo anchored the Cultural programme ably.
Bilasuni Sammans were conferred on prominent personalities for their exemplary contributions to the society during the occasion. This year the awardees include Susanta Kumar Sabat, Deba Narayan Sethi, Ranjan Acharya, Umakanta Jena,Jayaram Rana, Lili Jenamani, Manasmita Jena, Nivedita Satpathy, Dr Sarojini Pani, Prabodha Samantara, Dr Chittaranjan Mishra, Bijay Kumar Mohanty, Pandit Raj Kishore Panda, Nalini Sahoo, Krupasindhu Maharaj, Dr Adhiraj Parida, Atulya Jena and Prakash Nanda.
The ace organising team of Bilasuni who were responsible for the massive success of three days long Mahotsava include Upendra Mohanty, Prakash Mohanty, Sampad Mohanty, Swadhin Mohanty, Niranjan Ray, Kartika Chandra Sarangi, Madan Mohan Jena, Bishnu Charan Dalua, Chakradhar Raj, Lalatendu Sahoo, Mihir Bastia, Pravat Jena, Subash Mohanty and Manabhanjan Behera.
