SC Orders Transfer Of 5 Cases From Unnao

Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday transfer the rape case involving BJP legislator Kuldeep Singh Sengar out of Unnao district in Uttar Pradesh to Delhi. The apex court said the designated judge in Delhi will commence the trial on day-to-day basis and complete the trial within 45 days.

While reading the order, Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi said the shifting victim and lawyer to AIIMS in New Delhi can happen if the family wants.

The 2017 rape survivor and her lawyer are undergoing treatment at the Lucknow hospital after their vehicle was hit by a truck on Sunday.

On Wednesday, the court had taken cognisance of the rape victim's letter to the CJI and had sought a report from its secretary general why it had not been brought to his notice since July 17.
