Invisible signals confuse road users Desk Fnf: While Ahmedabad traffi c police and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s attempt to enforce traffi c discipline has been laudable, commuters say it will do them a world of good if the traffi c signals are placed in a manner that these are clearly visible to oncoming drivers. A Mirror Check on signals near C G Road and Ashram Road found that the signals are either not visible due to obstructions like hoardings, plantation in the central verges or because they were placed in an odd position.

GIRISH CROSSROADS
If you are coming from Mithakhali road and going towards St Xavier’s College, the signal on the left is obscured by a tree. On the opposite side, the signal is placed so high that you cannot see it because of the tree branches.

NAL CIRCLE, LAW GARDEN
Here, tree branches and hoardings on the central verge obstruct the vision of the commuters

XAVIER’S CORNER
As you take a turn from Wagh Bakri towards Xavier’s Corner, there are two signals at the spot. But these are not visible because of overgrown branches of trees

VALLABH SADAN
The plantation on the central verge is so high that the signal near Delite Circle is not visible to people driving past Shiv Cinema. This poses danger to the vehicles wanting to take a turn

SAMARPAN CROSSROADS
If you are coming from the direction of Samarpan flats and stop at the signal, the timer is not visible as it’s hidden behind the tree. So, commuters fail to turn the vehicle off, thus wasting fuel.
