Sadhna Shankar launches her seventh book, MoS Murugan calls it relevant to present times

Sadhna Shankar launches her seventh book, MoS Murugan calls it relevant to present times New Delhi: ‘When We Conversed’, a book authored by Dr Sadhna Shankar is a reflection on ideas that range from loneliness, the urge to chronicle life, empty nest and gender dynamics. Written in simple, engaging and lucid style, the articles are a reflection of our times. They deal with contemporary issues and ideas that are changing our lives. The book is a collection of published articles and blog posts by the author. This is Dr Shankar’s seventh book in a row.

Launching the book in New Delhi, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Govt of India, Dr L Murugan said that her writing has played an important role in creating understanding between people and cultures, and chronicling our times. Describing the book he said, it has dealt with several topics that are relevant presently, particularly about technology, COVID, tourism and travel. The book reveals an observant and perceptive eye, and a writing style that is easy to read.

Justice M M Kumar, Former Member, National Human Rights Commission was the Guest of Honour. Others who attended the launch included Deputy Director General of Ministry of HRD, Govt of India, Ms Namisha Singh. The vent was attended by writers, publishers & literary enthusiasts. 

Speaking on her book Dr Shankar said, ‘It is a collection of my thoughts and reflections over a period of time, and I hope readers will find something of value in it’. Travel is what made her a story teller, and today the rapid changes in technology are what engage her most as a writer. The book is available online and in bookstores.

Dr Sadhna Shankar is a civil servant, a columnist, blogger, having 2 novels to her credit. Her last novel ‘Ascendance’, is a science fiction. Her other books include Ahlan-wa-Sahlan: A Syrian Journey, When the Parallels Meet; Never a Disconnect, Catching Fireflies and Arohan.

About ‘When We Conversed’: Divided into four sections the conversation of the book is multi-faceted. The first section ‘Room with a view’ brings together reflections on ideas that range from loneliness, the urge to chronicle life, empty nest and gender dynamics.  The next ‘The Metaverse Beckons’ is a take on the impact of technology on our everyday lives. The third ‘When the virus strikes’ is a series of articles that chronicle the way COVID impacted the various aspects of our lives. The next section is ‘What they see’, a collection of articles that stem from imagination. The last “You wonder what the magic is’ is on travel.
